Working with Intermodal Structures (IMS), SBA has designed a prefabricated building system for use at overseas sites. The modules are constructed in a shipping container factory in China. When assembled, the high performance buildings provide office, classroom, and residential facilities for military and relief workers. At the recent National Defense Transportation Association Convention in Washington DC, an assembly team built an IMS office building in only five hours.
Contract Magazine featured the interior design of Lighthouse Community Charter School in the June 2010 edition. The article focused on SBA’s achievement in creating a creative composition of light, bright interior spaces on a slim budget and breakneck schedule. In the words of Lighthouse Founder Jenna Stauffer: “Phred and his team took our little vision and magnified it. It’s pretty amazing to be able to understand what a school community wants and make it better.”
Lighthouse Community Charter School is the recipient of a Leroy F. Greene Design Award, given by C.A.S.H./AIACC. The award recognizes exceptional architectural design for public schools. Jurors remarked: "This is a beautiful and bright colored project with a good design in a challenging space....It's a nice adaptive reuse of an existing industrial building and they've made a lot out of a little."

The San Francisco Chronicle Magazine featured Starkweather Bondy’s Yin Young Residence in the March 2, 2008 edition. The article praised the design for restoring the iconic house to its original intent, while making the space work for a modern family. Enlarging the house’s footprint by only 150 square feet, the design team was able to restore the original sustainable features of the house, install new technology, and open the space to create the effect of a much larger house.
