Keys School
Palo Alto, CA
Completed 2009
This new middle school campus incorporates sustainable strategies throughout, making the architecture a teaching and learning tool. The campus takes advantage of the mild climate with outdoor classrooms, manages stormwater on site, uses daylighting, shading, and natural ventilation to maintain user comfort, and employs green roof and photovoltaic technologies.
In keeping with Keys School’s educational mission, simple materials and forms layer space for both defined educational needs and chance learning opportunities.
